HTC 10 Review
Design
The HTC 10 is HTC’s latest flagship phone, featuring a 2K 5.2″ LCD display and a bold new chamfered contour and dual-textured finish. The full glass front has been merged seamlessly into the metal body, while the speakers have been redesigned to add to the sleeker look. Although HTC have gone for a more premium looking design, the HTC 10 is undeniably tough. In fact, it’s been subjected to over 168 hours of extreme temperature tests, ranging from -20°C to 60°C, plus over 10,000 drop, scratch and corrosion tests, ensuring the build quality can handle everyday knocks. The HTC 10 is available in Carbon Grey, which is similar in tone to the dark metal offered by the HTC One M9 and HTC One A9, Glacier Silver which looks like the classic HTC One M7 stylings, and Topaz Gold which is a muted gold back with a glossy white face.
Features
HTC claims that their latest flagship device features the World’s first dual OIS, based on their research among major smartphone brand models earlier in the year.
With OIS in both front and back cameras, the result is bright, sharp and steady photos. While the main camera gives up to 136% more light in every shot, thanks to HTC’s new generation UltraPixel sensor with OIS featured and a bright ƒ/1.8 lens. Even the front camera is impressive with a large pixel sensor, ƒ/1.8 lens, and a screen flash offering brighter, richer selfies. While the wide-angle lens allows for easier group shots. The new camera has even been awarded a DxoMark score of 88 for camera quality, one of the highest scores to date. Finally, HTC takes visuals a step further with 4K video incorporated with the World’s first stereo 24-bit Hi-Res audio recording in a smartphone, to capture 265 times more detail across twice the frequency range.
While sound has always been at the heart of the HTC range, the new high performance headset amplifier that works alongside the Hi-Res audio and 24-bit DAC takes symphony’s to a whole new level. Even the HTC BoomSound™ speakers have been re-engineered in the HTC 10 to Hi-Fi edition, featuring the same separated tweeter and woofer design as leading acoustic systems, with a dedicated amplifier for each speaker. While the new earphones featured 8µm thin aerospace-grade polymer diaphragm and 70% oversized drivers to pump out richer sound across twice the frequency range.
