Update: Release date & availability
The Nokia 3310 will be released in mid June 2017, however the 3310 will only be available on Vodafone and EE networks, with O2 and Three announcing they have no plans to stock the new retro handset.
Nokia brings back the 3310 – 17 years later
Nokia has brought back the 3310, originally announced on September 1st, 17 years ago. The original 3310 was a large success with 126 million units sold worldwide. How will the 2017 version compare?
Design
Most notably for previous 3310 owners, the 2017 version will feature a colour screen (gasp), and a bright plastic shell available in glossy yellow, glossy orange, matte grey and matte dark blue colour options. Keeping in line with tradition, the 3310 sports Nokia’s reliable keypad. Noticeably sleeker than it’s predecessor, the updated 3310 is thinner by 9.2mm and weighs 53.4 grams less than the original.
Specs
Upgrades include a 2MP camera, micro-USB charging port, headphone jack, microSD storage and Bluetooth. However it’s still an old-school phone so there’s no WiFi, GPS or app store but there is 2.5G internet. Further features include calls, texts, lo-fi photos and the much loved Snake for all those feeling nostalgic. But even better than Snake, Nokia claims the battery on the updated 3310 will last almost an entire month on standby.
